Meet Hugh who has been cycling all through Britain for Casa do Caminho!
A year ago Hugh showed up at Casa do Caminho for a visit. He promised to do a fundraiser for Casa do Caminho and so he came up with this fantastic idea to do a sponsored cycle trip from one end of Britain to the other with great success.

This is Hugh's message:

I've finally completed my cycle trip from one end of Britain to the other and clocked up 950 miles (1530km) in the process. The main aim of the trip was to raise money for Casa do Camino, and the current total, including Giftaid stands at £2770 (8232 reals). With some gentle persuasion and reminders to friends and family I'm hoping to get the total to £3000..

Having set off on the 1st September from Lands End, the southern most point of England, I spent the next two weeks making my way up the country and taking in some beautiful and not so beautiful scenery. From the soft rolling hills of Devon and Cornwall, via the industrial North of England I arrived in "bonnie" Scotland on the 9th September. After that, the surroundings became more and more eyecatching, with the majestic Glen Coe as the high point.

Five days later, with very sore knees but some great encouragement from friends via SMS and email, I arrived at John O' Groats, the furthest north you can be on mainland Britain. Finito, mission accomplished!

I'd like to thank everybody who has made a donation and also to the generous people who provided free accomodation along the way.

There is a blog for anyone who'd like to read more about the ups and downs of my solo cycling adventure - http://lacticlegs.blogspot.com

Good luck to everyone at Casa do Caminho, I hope my little effort can help make things better.
