KIDS Worldwide South America

Since 5 years Nico and Danny organize al kind of social and cultural events in Beek. They started small but through the years, they have build up a good name and everybody is enthusiastic when Nico & Danny plan their next event. They have organized “night horror walks”, open air theatre, Olympic games, which has brought the people of the community closer together. The most important elements of their success are “fun” and “doing things together”.

I, Bart Bijen the new director of Casa do Caminho come from the same town and now Danny and Nico well. 4 years ago when I volunteered at Casa do Caminho Danny and Nico sponsored a “game day” for the children of Casa do Caminho. They promised me that in case I would still be active in Brazil 4 years later they would organize a big event for Casa do Caminho. As promised, they started thinking what they could do.

Danny and Nico decided to try to connect the children of Beek with the Children of Casa do Caminho and rural community of Xerem. I explained them about all the limitations, but they see it as challenge and have no doubt that it will succeed. Yesterday the preparation started. In the community centre “’t Trefpunt” in the Netherlands we gave a presentation on Casa do Caminho and the activities planned the coming year for the community

The following activities are planned:

1. School presentations
2. monthly door to door newsletter
3. Building of a special website
4. Music concert
5. Art gallery
6. Theatre event

It is expected that more than 50 volunteers will participate organizing the different events.  

On the other side of the world in Casa do Caminho children will also be informed about the happenings in the Netherlands. Children should be able to step into each other worlds!

This is a great opportunity for the children and staff of Casa do Caminho, which we should embrace!
